The “A Woman’s Touch in the Digital Age” event was organized by our university’s Software Engineering Club (ASEC) to highlight the growing role of women in the fields of information technology and entrepreneurship.
The event was opened by Prof. Dr. Gülnihal Meral, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences.
During the event, female leaders who have made significant contributions in technology and entrepreneurship came together with students. The speakers included Ceyda Süer, Founder of Flexvision Tech; Merve Hatice Karataş, Head of IT Testing and Certification Department at the Turkish Standards Institution (TSE); and Esma Dilek, Deputy Director General of Communications at the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and President of ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) Turkey.
Guest speaker Ceyda Süer shared her career journey, which spans from corporate life to entrepreneurship, along with the experiences she gained throughout this path.
A Q&A panel was held with the invited panelists, moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hilal Arslan, Head of the Software Engineering Department. Following Dr. Arslan’s presentation offering a female perspective on academia, Esma Dilek shared valuable insights about the role of women in the public sector, the responsibilities they undertake, and the challenges they face. Merve Hatice Karataş discussed the work being done in the certification process of value-added products developed in Turkey and described her experience in this process from the perspective of a female leader.
