The conference titled “The First Islamic Works Written in Turkish,” organized by the Department of Turkish Language and Literature and the Arts and Literature Thought Society at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, was successfully held on Thursday, October 15, 2026, in the Conference Hall of Building A on the Esenboğa Campus.
The program began with a one-minute moment of silence and the singing of the Turkish National Anthem in memory of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, our beloved martyrs, our citizens who lost their lives in the earthquake, and our students who lost their lives in the heinous attacks. The opening remarks were delivered by our Department Chair, Prof. Dr. Ayşe Demir. Following the opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Aysu Ata, a faculty member of the Department of Turkish Language and Literature at Ankara University’s Faculty of Language, History, and Geography, took the podium and delivered a comprehensive and insightful presentation to the participants on the earliest Islamic works—which represent some of the most significant milestones in the history of the Turkish language and literature. At the conclusion of the conference, which drew significant interest from both academics and students, our Department Chair, Prof. Dr. Ayşe Demir, presented a bouquet of flowers to our distinguished guest, Prof. Dr. Aysu Ata.
The event concluded with a group photo and conversations over tea and refreshments in front of the A Block conference hall. We would like to thank our guest, Prof. Dr. Aysu Ata, for honoring us with her valuable academic contributions, as well as all the faculty members and students who contributed to the program.
