Why Arch AYBU?

The aim of this program is to train architects who have assimilated their cultural identity, are aware of the needs of the society they live in, and can produce original solutions by approaching spatial problems from this perspective.

Based on this vision, it is aimed to gain the ability to design and express this design concretely, together with the ability to think in three dimensions, which are the most important inputs of the architectural profession. Since it has a structure that progresses with many disciplines such as architecture, art, social sciences and engineering sciences, it is another goal to teach students both the relevant knowledge and skills and the ability to work with these disciplines.

The high number of universities that provide architectural education has brought problems for graduates in transitioning to professional life. In the proposed program, a curriculum is offered to improve both design skills and technical equipment, and on the other hand, it is envisaged that our graduates will be at the forefront of this competition as an education that focuses on local problems and concerns such as cultural belonging in architecture.

On the other hand, in our department, where the language of instruction is 100% English, all of our faculty members have carried out long-term foreign studies and reflect their knowledge in their field to the architectural education backbone.

The place of the architectural profession in academic and technological developments
“Architecture”, one of the oldest known professional groups, is directly affected by cultural, social, economic and technological developments and affects the society it addresses to the same extent. In particular, technological developments have accelerated the design and production process in the architectural profession, facilitated data and resource communication with different disciplines, and thus enabled to create more efficient structures in technical, economic and environmental aspects. For example, information technology has taken its place in the architectural profession as in other disciplines, providing flexibility, convenience and versatility to its users, especially in design and project design processes, thus increasing design diversity. On the other hand, the diversity has also increased in terms of building elements, materials and construction equipment; By enabling faster, more energy efficient and more environmentally sensitive buildings, solutions to increase the life quality of its users have increased.

The architectural profession, which is a mechanism for solving structural and spatial problems in the light of need-oriented, aesthetic and cultural concerns, is affected by many variables. For example, the increasing urban population on a global scale has revealed various problems at the scale of housing, neighborhood and city, on the other hand, architects were expected to produce solutions by taking into account the social and cultural data of the society. In addition, cultural diversity has also been endangered by globalization, and creating different solutions for the protection, survival and development of cultural values has started to constitute a more important place among the problems of architecture. On the other hand, the issue of temporary buildings that will provide the necessary living conditions of the refugees while providing them with the refugee and accommodation needs has emerged. If another example is given; Changing needs and comfort conditions have led to increasing energy consumption and more greenhouse gas emissions, and measures have been taken for more efficient use of energy in the designed buildings. The architectural profession is fed by many different disciplines; It is a field that is directly affected by social, cultural, economic and technological developments and produces solutions to many different problems as in the examples we have listed and therefore has an important place in both academic and technological developments.
