“Blended Territories” International Research Workshop Begins at AYBU Department of Architecture

AYBÜ Mimarlık Bölümü Ev Sahipliğinde “Blended Territories” Uluslararası Araştırma Atölyesi Başladı

The opening of the “Blended Territories Lab, Cities and Urban Projects: All Cities of Ankara” research workshop, organized by Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University Department of Architecture within the scope of the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP), was held on September 2, 2026, at the AYBU Esenboğa Campus.

The opening program was attended by AYBU Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Cengiz Köseoğlu, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Abdullah Yıldız, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Fine Arts Prof. Dr. İhsan Toktaş, and Vice Deans Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Emre Dinçer and Assist. Prof. Dr. Taner Aşçı.

The workshop is directed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rafael Reinoso, while Prof. Dr. Salah Hajismail serves as its Scientific Chair and Coordinator. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ekrem Bahadır Çalışkan and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Filiz Karakuş serve as co-coordinators of the program, while Res. Assist. Büşra İnce, Res. Assist. Aslı Zeynep Doğan, and Res. Assist. Bilgesu Ünalan are members of the organizing committee.

The program, which will continue from September 2 to 10, 2026, brings together Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University with the University of Granada, University of Valladolid, and University of Seville from Spain, as well as the University of Porto from Portugal. With a total of 67 participants, academics and students from different countries are conducting collaborative research and production activities focusing on Ankara.

During the nine-day international research workshop, Ankara is being explored through the themes of morphology, mobility, public space, identity, architecture, and narrative. Incorporating field studies, urban analyses, academic evaluations, and collaborative production processes, the program will conclude on September 10, 2026, with final presentations, an exhibition, a certificate ceremony, and a closing program to be held at the AYBU Esenboğa Campus.
