A team formed by Eda Nur Çolak, Nurcan Açıkada, and Oğul Can Aydın—students in the Department of Architecture at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University—under the guidance of Department of Architecture faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ekrem Bahadır Çalışkan, achieved a significant success by winning first place in Turkey at the national stage of the Saint-Gobain International Architecture Student Competition.
Launched in Serbia in 2004 and becoming an international event in 2005, the Saint-Gobain Architecture Student Contest is now an international student competition involving more than 1,300 architecture students from over 30 countries.
The competition is organized in two stages: national and international. Projects that win first place in the national competitions held in participating countries qualify for the international final, where they compete against the national winners from other countries.
In this context, the team from the AYBÜ Department of Architecture, which won first place in the 2026 Turkey national round, will represent our country and our university at the international final to be held in Belgrade, Serbia, from June 23–25, 2026.
This significant achievement is a concrete demonstration of disciplined work, teamwork, and design expertise. We congratulate our students and their advisor, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ekrem Bahadır Çalışkan, on their first-place finish in the national round and wish them success in the international finals.
