The YTB-Supported Sweden Turkish Diaspora Atlas Has Been Published: Edited by Research Assistant M. Mustafa İyi from Our Faculty

The “Sweden Turkish Diaspora Atlas”, published with the support of the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) to mark the 60th anniversary of the first migration from Turkey to Sweden, has been released. Research Assistant M. Mustafa İyi from our Faculty served as both the project coordinator and editor of the Atlas.

Tracing the journey from the guest worker migrations of the 1960s to the emergence of a well-established, four-generation Turkish diaspora in Sweden, the Atlas offers a comprehensive and academically grounded overview of this six-decade experience. It examines the social, economic, cultural, and political transformations of the community through a holistic lens.

All 33 interviews featured in the Atlas were conducted by M. Mustafa İyi, who also transcribed and compiled them for publication. In his introductory chapter, “From Guest Worker to Diaspora: New Generations, Transformations, and Agendas,” İyi provides an analytical account of how the Turkish community has become an integral part of Swedish society.

As the Faculty, we congratulate Research Assistant M. Mustafa İyi on the publication of this significant work.
