GENERAL INFORMATION

Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University Faculty of Health Sciences -responding to the needs of our age in the light of scientific data- has been established as one of the 7 faculties at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University in order to contribute to science and technology with research activities and to educate well-equipped individuals, with the decision numbered 27648 and published in the Official Gazette dated 21 July 2010. Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University is the 97th state university of our country and the fifth state university of our capital Ankara. In the Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department, which was opened within the Faculty of Health Sciences, undergraduate education has started in the 2016-2017 academic year. Our department has been to train physiotherapists at undergraduate level and MSc and PhD physiotherapists within the scope of postgraduate programs. The language of instruction of the BSc programme is Turkish and the academic year is 4 years. The first undergraduate students in the Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department has graduated in 2020.

In our department; dynamic and interactive learning, clinical practices and an innovative approach based on current evidence have been followed. Our department provides some advantages: having a dynamic and innovative academic staff who have completed their basic and higher education at leading universities abroad and in Turkey, following a student-oriented education supported by the full participation and feedback of our students in all subjects, the importance we place on English education, the social opportunities of our university and our post-graduation support system.

Physiotherapist is a health professional who plans and applies physiotherapy-specific evaluation and treatment approaches after physician diagnosis in all kinds of injuries, diseases and aging related problems, pain and functional disorders that cause movement disorders. Physiotherapist also plans appropriate exercises / preventive programs in order to maintain the health of healthy people. Therefore, physiotherapist has important duties in increasing the quality of life.

Physiotherapists have employment opportunities in many fields; physical medicine and rehabilitation in national and international inpatient treatment centres, orthopaedics and traumatology, neurology, neurosurgery, general surgery, rheumatology, cardiology, chest diseases, pediatrics, urology, oncology, gynecology and obstetrics, cardiovascular surgery, thoracic surgery, otorhinolaryngology, plastic surgery services, intensive care and burn units, special education and rehabilitation centers, prosthetic-orthotics production and rehabilitation centers, community health centers, industrial areas, sports clubs and centres, spa centres, medical centres, home care centres and university hospitals.
