On April 15, 2026, a “TRT Institutional Visit” was organized for a group of 30 students from the Department of Arabic Translation and Interpreting, under the Department of Eastern Languages and Literatures at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University’s Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. The visit was carried out under the leadership of the Middle East Research Club (ODAK) and accompanied by the club’s academic advisor, Dr. Lecturer Mehmet Sadık Gür, using transportation provided by the university.

Between 10:00 and 13:30, the program included visits to several key TRT units, primarily the TRT Broadcasting History Museum, as well as TRT Kurdish, TRT Academy, TRT Headquarters, and finally the TRT External Broadcasting Building.

At the TRT Broadcasting History Museum, Mr. Suat Yüksel provided comprehensive information on the development of TRT radio and television broadcasting from past to present. At the second stop, Mr. Recep Cihan, a broadcast producer working at the TRT News Channel Coordination Office, guided a campus tour, introduced all units, and shared valuable insights into modern journalism practices and the behind-the-scenes operations of broadcasting.

During the visit, students also had the opportunity to briefly meet Mr. Anda Özmen from TRT News at the 15 July National Will Studio. Due to live broadcast intensity, the meeting was short. Later, a brief conversation was held with Mr. Mirkamil Kaşgarlı, a translator-announcer at the TRT Uyghur Desk, regarding working life at TRT.

Finally, a productive discussion was held with Ms. Fatema Alkabir and Mr. Ala Gördü from the TRT Arabic Desk on the competencies required to work in such a prestigious institution and their professional experiences.

The visit provided students with valuable insights into the qualifications needed to work in established institutions like TRT, as well as awareness of potential challenges in professional life. Moreover, it offered an opportunity to observe the real working environment beyond theoretical education and to examine the behind-the-scenes processes of broadcasting on site.

We would like to extend our thanks to the ODAK team, the Department of Eastern Languages and Literatures, and Vice Rector and Dean Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Tutar for their contributions to the realization of this meaningful program.
