AYBÜ Arabic Translation and Interpretation program students and faculty members made modest contributions to the “Palestine Special Issue” of YİTİKSÖZ magazine.
Prepared with the aim of drawing attention to the long-standing oppression of Palestine around the world and reflecting this to readers through the medium of literature, the December 2025 issue of YİTİKSÖZ magazine, based in Kahramanmaraş, Turkey's first and only City of Literature in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, – January 2026 issue of the “Palestine Special Issue,” prepared with the aim of drawing attention to the oppression of Palestine, which has long been on the agenda around the world, and reflecting it to readers through the possibilities of literature. Erva Ersöz, Muharrem Aycil, E. Vera Karaca, Muhammet Yezan Diyap, Kalbinur Abıthacı, Şeyma Karaca, and Sumaıa Mohammed Ahmed Pa-Jalah from the Arabic Translation and Interpretation Program have voluntarily contributed a total of 14 translations consisting of poems, stories, letters, and essays from Arabic literature.
The articles and translations in this rare special issue of the magazine also include excerpts from the works of many writers and thinkers, notably Nuri Pakdil and Sezai Karakoç, important figures in Turkish literature, who stood against the oppression they experienced.
Furthermore, this modest but meaningful contribution by the students and faculty of the AYBÜ Arabic Translation Program to the “Palestine Special Issue” of YİTİKSÖZ magazine has been well received in literary and academic circles; the work has been featured on various news and culture-arts websites, reaching a wider readership.
