Those who wish to be exempt from the Compulsory Preparatory Class of the Department of Arabic Translation and Interpreting, Department of Eastern Languages and Literatures, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciencesare required to take the “Preparatory Class (Arabic) Exemption Examination.”
Participation in this examination is not compulsory.
Students who have newly been admitted to our department in the 2026–2027 academic year and students who have failed the compulsory preparatory class and are repeating the class may take the examination.
Students who wish to receive Double Major and Minor education in our program may take the examination.
Our 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th-year students cannot take the examination.
Students who will take the exemption examination do not need to register for the exemption examination; it is sufficient for them to be present at the examination locations at the date and time specified below.
IMPORTANT: The Compulsory Preparatory Class Exemption Examination of the Department of Arabic Translation and Interpreting, Department of Eastern Languages and Literatures, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, will be held face-to-face on Monday, September 14, 2026, in rooms A161 and A163 of Block A at AYBU Esenboğa Campus.

EXEMPTION EXAMINATION CONTENT AND IMPLEMENTATION
The Arabic Exemption Examination for the Preparatory Class Fall Semester (September), which will be held on 14.09.2026, will take place in a total of two (2) sessions: Written and Oral/Practical.
1st Session (Listening Comprehension, Reading Comprehension/Grammar, and Composition):
The Written Examination will be held between 10:00–12:30. The Written Examination will consist of the sections of Listening Comprehension, Reading Comprehension/Grammar, and Written Expression.
In the Listening Comprehension section, two questions of different types will be asked, and students will be required to answer the questions in accordance with the content of the audio recording played.
In the Reading Comprehension section, 25 multiple-choice questions will be asked to measure Reading Comprehension and Grammar skills.
In the Written Expression section, 2 written expression topics will be determined, and students will be asked to choose one of these two (2) topics. Students will be required to write a composition related to the topic they have chosen, provided that it is not less than 150 words.
2nd Session: The Oral Expression/Practical examination will begin at 13:30.
Following the written examination, students will be divided into two groups and will be taken into the oral examination individually before the oral examination committees. During the examination, 2 faculty members will be present on each committee.
Scoring and Evaluation:
Listening Comprehension: 25 points,
Reading Comprehension: 25 points,
Written Expression: 25 points,
Oral Expression / Practical: 25 points
