Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University (AYBU) was established as the 97th public university of Turkey and the 5th in our capital city, Ankara, in accordance with the official decree published in the Official Gazette on July 21, 2010 (Decree No. 27648). The university began its academic activities on October 3, 2011, with 7 faculties, 1 school, 4 institutes, and 1 conservatory. As of 2024, the university comprises 15 faculties, 1 school, 1 state conservatory, 4 vocational schools, 5 institutes, and 27 research and application centers.

Our mission is to contribute to science and technology by conducting research activities that meet the needs of our time and to educate individuals equipped to serve humanity. AYBU aims to be a university that guides the country and society, addresses current issues, and shapes the future of science and humanity.

As in the previous year, in the 2024-2025 academic year, our university continues to offer undergraduate programs in Medicine, Dentistry, Law, Architecture, Fine Arts, Political Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, Business, Engineering and Natural Sciences, Aviation and Space Sciences, Health Sciences, Theology, Sports Sciences, Şereflikoçhisar Applied Sciences Faculty, and the Turkish Music State Conservatory. Additionally, our vocational schools, including the Technical Sciences Vocational School, Şereflikoçhisar Berat Cömertoğlu Vocational School, Health Services Vocational School, and the Social Sciences Vocational School, continue to provide associate degree programs.

In the 2019-2020 academic year, the faculties of Fine Arts, Aviation and Space Sciences, and Humanities and Social Sciences, as well as the Departments of Translation and Interpretation (English), Speech and Language Therapy, and Child Development in the Faculty of Health Sciences, began offering undergraduate programs. Additionally, new associate degree programs in Equestrianism and Coaching, Civil Defense and Firefighting, and 3D Modeling and Animation were launched within the Vocational Schools.

The university offers 100% English language education in the Faculties of Medicine, Engineering, Architecture, Aviation and Space Sciences, Political Sciences, and Business, as well as in the Psychology program within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Our Law Faculty continues its 30% English education program, which was the first of its kind among state universities. The History program in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences also offers 30% of its education in English.

In addition to these, the Medical Faculty (Turkish program), the Faculty of Health Sciences, the Faculty of Dentistry, Şereflikoçhisar Applied Sciences Faculty, the Turkish Music State Conservatory’s Turkish Religious Music program, as well as the Vocational Schools, including Şereflikoçhisar Berat Cömertoğlu Vocational School and Health Services Vocational School, all offer education in Turkish. The Faculty of Theology provides a one-year preparatory Arabic course before continuing in Turkish.

In addition to undergraduate programs, all of our faculties offer Master's and Ph.D. programs, both thesis and non-thesis. Since its establishment, AYBU has positioned itself as a research university, with a postgraduate student ratio of 23.50%. The university is advancing steadily with numerous graduate programs and national and international projects.

With approximately 11% international undergraduate students (2483 students from 109 countries), 203 bilateral agreements with international universities, exchange programs for students, academic staff, and administrative personnel, joint diploma programs, and a significant number of foreign faculty members, our university has become an internationally recognized institution. AYBU is proud to be ranked first among universities in Turkey in terms of the proportion of international undergraduate students.

Although AYBU is a relatively young university, it has successfully attracted the interest of both esteemed academics and high-achieving students.

AYBU has rapidly expanded its academic staff, now numbering over 1400, thereby strengthening its academic infrastructure.

Through collaborations with internationally accredited organizations such as OXFORD, TOEFL, PEARSON, and CITY&GUILD, AYBU provides students with globally recognized English language education, further enhancing its appeal to talented international students.

AYBU is steadily taking significant steps toward positioning itself among the elite universities. Many of our programs rank in the top 5 among universities in Turkey following the University Placement Exams.
