Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University (AYBU) Institute for International Relations and Strategic Research (ULISA-IIRSR) will host the 3rd International Humanitarian Aid Symposium (ULIYAS) during 5-6-7 November 2026 in partnership with the Turkish Red Crescent, AYBU Technology Transfer Office and University of New York Tirana.

Humanitarian aid, considered a sub-branch of humanitarian diplomacy where civil groups and organizations can be influential alongside traditional state diplomacy, is based on cooperation and support in difficult times. Since the world faces severe humanitarian crises worldwide, approximately 245 million people need urgent humanitarian assistance today. Disasters, war, internal conflicts, migration movements, epidemics, drought, ethnic discrimination and hunger cause humanitarian crises. Today, humanitarian aid is one of the most strategic means of waving flags, appealing to hearts and minds and soft power.

Humanitarian aid has many dimensions related to economics, politics, sociology, psychology, health and theology. Issues such as prevailing socioeconomic disparities, rising national and global income inequalities, and natural disasters heighten its significance. Humanitarian aid studies must be supported in theory as well as in practice.

In this context, the symposium aims to bring together public institutions and organizations, international organizations, universities, non-governmental organizations, academics and experts who carry out academic studies in humanitarian aid. Within the framework of humanitarian aid, the symposium will discuss many subjects such as economics, law, political science, international relations, sociology, psychology, health, theology and social work, and different approaches in the field will be discussed.

Your participation in the 3rd ULIYAS, which AYBU will host on 5-6-7 November 2026, will make us happy. We look forward to your contributions to the symposium, where many dimensions of the humanitarian aid field will be discussed, with your presentations and papers.
