Question: I skipped preparatory class; I will start classes in the second semester (spring semester). Which classes can I take?

As a result of the conditions stated in the registration guide published on our department website, our students who start in the interim (irregular) cannot take classes that continue with the fall semester in the spring semester with prerequisites. Examples of these are the studio project course (ARCH102) and the technical drawing II course (ARCH144). Since it is the student's first semester, a success grade / weighted general grade point average (CGPA) is not formed. As a result, the student cannot take courses from previous semesters. You can review the regulation for detailed information. Associate Degree and Undergraduate Education Regulations

Question: Where can I learn the details of subjects such as course registration, approval and exam types?

Answer: All the information required for students' undergraduate period is available in the Aybu associate degree and undergraduate education-training regulations. .Additional details specific to the architecture department can be found in the registration guide on the department's web page.

Question: Where can I track my course attendance?

Answer: It can be learned via OBS and/or from the faculty member responsible for the course. Whether the attendance requirement is met/met can be tracked via OBS.

Question: I did not come to class 3 weeks ago, to whom and how should I report my excuse?

Answer: It is necessary to submit the documents of the valid excuse to the faculty student affairs within 5 business days of the end of the excuse and to report it to the faculty member responsible for the course. Applications that are not made on time will not be evaluated. However, health reports are not valid in counting absences from classes. They are valid for exams.

You can access detailed information about excuse procedures from the link.

Question: An exam was held without informing me the week I did not come to class, I want to object.

Answer: Exams can be held with or without notice during the semester.

Question: My final grade for my course was bb. I was expecting it to be higher than the final exam, can my exam be checked?

Answer: The first exams are announced in order, then the course is concluded. The student can request a review or correction of the material error after the exam results are announced, not after the course is concluded.

Question: I could not meet the attendance requirement, I want to take the final exam, what should I do?

Answer: In order to take the mid-term/yearly exam of a course, the attendance requirement specified in this regulation and the conditions determined and announced by the instructor who will teach the course at the beginning of the semester, if any, must be met. Students who do not meet these conditions will not be allowed to take the mid-term/yearly exam. The attendance entry system will be closed a few days after the semester ends.

Question: For which courses will a make-up exam be held?

Answer: Only theoretical courses have make-up exams. For example, applied courses such as Studio or Technical Drawing II do not have make-up exams.

Question: I registered for a make-up exam, what happens if I don't take it?

Answer: If the make-up exam for the course you registered for is not taken, the make-up grade entry will be finalized as “GR (Not Entered)” and the final grade will be valid. For more information:

Question: The system allowed a conflict between a required course I’m taking from a higher grade level and a course in my own semester. Can I take this course?

Answer: No, you cannot. Although the registration system technically allowed it, reviews have revealed that some students have registered for required courses from higher grade levels that conflict with their own semester’s required courses on the same day and time.

If you find yourself in such a situation, you must remain enrolled in the required course offered in your own semester and drop (withdraw from) the conflicting required course from the upper class. Courses in your own semester always take priority.

Question: Can I take elective courses from lower or upper-level classes? Who is exempt from this rule?

Answer: No, as a general rule, you cannot. Students are required to enroll only in elective courses offered in their own class level and semester. Upper-level students are strictly prohibited from selecting elective courses intended for lower-level classes.

The Only Exception to This Rule: Students who begin their undergraduate education in the Spring semester by skipping the preparatory class (as an exemption) are exempt from this rule. Since their academic calendars progress differently, these students may enroll in elective courses offered to lower-level classes.

Question: Can I choose as many elective courses as I want from those offered during my semester? What is the maximum number of elective courses I can take?

Answer: No, you cannot take as many elective courses as you want. Students may register for no more than one additional required elective course beyond the number they are required to take in their current semester, based on their graduation requirements or ECTS plan.

Example Scenario: If you normally need to take 2 elective courses to meet the 30-credit threshold in your current semester, and the system offers a total of 4 different elective course options, you can register for a maximum of 3 of these courses; you cannot select all 4.
