Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt Üniversitesi Library celebrated the 62nd Library Week, held between March 31 and April 2, 2026, with great enthusiasm under the theme “Library 5.0: The Next Generation of Information.” Within the scope of the program, the digital transformation of information in libraries and the importance of academic databases were addressed. The events, organized across the university’s three campuses, were attended by a large number of students and academics, aiming to enhance access to digital information resources.

The opening speeches of the program were delivered with the participation of Vice Rectors Prof. Hüseyin Tutar, Prof. Abdullah Yıldız, and Prof. Akın Aktaş, as well as Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Fine Arts Prof. İhsan Toktaş, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry Prof. Adnan Öztürk and Vice Dean Prof. Emine Şebnem Kurşun Çakmak, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law Assoc. Prof. Belkıs Vural Çelenk, and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Assist. Prof. Ahmet Kağan Özdemir. In the speeches, emphasis was placed on the strategic role of libraries in providing access to accurate and reliable information. Halil Gürbüz, Head of the Library and Documentation Department, shared the university’s library vision and the diversity of its information resources with the participants.

During the sessions held at the Esenboğa, 15 Temmuz Şehitleri, and Bilkent campuses, academic databases used in a wide range of fields—from Health Sciences to Law, from Engineering to Social Sciences—were introduced. In the presentations delivered by expert trainers, participants were informed about the effective use of platforms such as EBSCO, ProQuest, Türkiye Atıf Dizini, Complete Anatomy, Swisslex, Applied Science & Technology Source Ultimate, Engineering Source, IEEE, Dentistry & Oral Sciences Source, SportDiscus with Full Text, UpToDate, LegalBank, and Wikilala.

As part of the events, students who used the library most actively throughout the year and those who read the highest number of books, as well as volunteer “honorary librarians” who contributed to library activities, were awarded. In addition, various gifts were presented to many students through raffles organized during the program.

The programs concluded with the presentation of certificates of participation to the database representatives who contributed to the events. Through this series of activities, the AYBÜ Library and Documentation Department has reinforced its goal of integrating innovations in the digital information ecosystem into its institutional structure and establishing a next-generation understanding of librarianship. It is planned that such high-quality activities supporting academic development will continue to increase in the coming period.
