"Academic Visibility Strategies Applied Training" for unit academic visibility coordinators was held at the Etlik National Will Campus conference hall on March 28, 2024. 97 "unit academic visibility coordinators" appointed after the training carried out activities for academic visibility in their own units. In order to evaluate these activities, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa ORÇAN, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Abdullah YILDIZ, Quality Coordinator Prof. Dr. Ahmet Salih YİĞİT and Quality Commission Member Dr. 'Academic Visibility Coordinators Meeting' was held in the Etlik National Will Campus conference hall with the participation of Abdullah DEMİR.
Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa ORÇAN states that the academic world is an extremely competitive environment, in this environment, it has become more important than ever for researchers' work to be noticed, academic visibility is the degree to which a researcher's work is known and recognized by other academics, visibility is an important factor that directly affects the impact of the research and the career development of the researcher. He said it was a factor. He stated that, as the University Administration, they support activities aimed at increasing academic visibility and will regularly monitor the results.
Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Abdullah YILDIZ pointed out that having high academic visibility increases the impact of research, supports the career development of the researcher, provides new collaborations and funding opportunities, and contributes to the dissemination of scientific knowledge, and academic visibility coordinators play an important role in the visibility of the publications of faculty members in their units by providing them with information and technical application support. He stated that they were fulfilling a duty.
AYBU Quality Coordinator Prof. Dr. Ahmet Salih YİĞİT stated that academic visibility expresses how effectively a researcher can share and promote his/her studies, that this is an important issue at both personal and institutional levels, and that the importance of academic visibility, especially the impact value of publications, is increasing and thanked the academic visibility coordinators for their contributions. . Quality Commission Member Dr. Abdullah DEMİR gave information about the results of the activities carried out by the unit academic visibility coordinators between 28 March and 15 May 2024. According to the information provided by DEMİR, "As of March 28, there were a total of 44,825 publications in the AYBU AVESIS system, and with the support of academic visibility coordinators, as of May 16, 46,110 publications were reached and an increase of 1,285 was observed. Similarly, the number of publications with the address AYBÜ in the Web of Science database increased from 7,077 to 7,234, and the number of publications in SCOPUS increased from 6,721 to 6,845.”
DEMİR also stated that the Times Higher Education 2024 World Young Universities Ranking was announced on May 14, 2024, 80 universities from Turkey were evaluated, 58 universities entered the ranking, and AYBU entered the ranking for the first time by being in the 501-600 band.
After DEMİR's presentation, the unit academic visibility coordinators took the floor and expressed the problems they encountered while carrying out academic visibility activities between 28 March and 15 May 2024 and their suggestions for improvement to solve them. In line with the suggestions from the coordinators, it was decided to make improvements such as appointing new academic visibility coordinators for units with a large number of faculty members and creating an "Academic Visibility Information Portal" on the AYBU website.
At the meeting, it was decided to hold the next "Academic Visibility Coordinators Meeting" in July and to continue academic visibility studies in the units until this date.
