Identity and Cultural Construction of the "Los Turcos" Community Discussed at the ITBF Colloquium

The 1st session of the Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences 2025-2026 Spring Semester Colloquium was held on February 18th at 12:00 in room A201. In the session featuring the presentation titled "Los Turcos: Identity and Culture in Third and Fourth Generation Descendants" by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Öner Buçukcu, a faculty member of the Department of Sociology; the identity construction, sense of belonging, and cultural integration practices of the third and fourth generations of the community—who migrated to Latin America with Ottoman passports and are historically categorized as "Turco"—were comprehensively analyzed in light of field research conducted in Colombia and Argentina.
