Organized by the AYBU Civil Engineering Association within the scope of the CE 201 Materials Science and CE 406 Properties of Fresh and Hardened Concrete courses, a technical field trip to the ELF Beton Prefabrik manufacturing plant was held under the guidance of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emin ŞENGÜN and Res. Asst. Yeşim ARSLANTÜRK.
During the visit, our students had the opportunity to observe controlled plant production processes of industrial precast concrete structural members, including formwork preparation, rebar installation, post-tensioning manufacturing procedures, casting, and steam curing. In addition, the aggregate tests were demonstrated in the Construction Materials Laboratory as part of the determination of aggregate properties required for concrete production. Plant authorities and engineers also delivered comprehensive technical presentations regarding quality control testing on reinforced concrete elements, dimensional tolerances, on-site erection details, and field connection assembly techniques.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the ELF Beton Prefabrik family for their kind hospitality and valuable contributions to this highly productive event bridging academic education and field practice, as well as to Lale Nur Ünal, President of the AYBU Civil Engineering Association, for her dedicated organizational efforts.
