Founded in 2017 under Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, the Hippotherapy Application and Research Center operates with the aim of becoming a pioneering public institution in the field of equine therapy.
The center aims to help individuals with special needs to hold on to life, increase their self-confidence, improve communication skills, and support them in using their potential to the highest level.
Additionally, by leading in the care, training, and welfare of horses, the center ensures that the horses are used in the therapy process in the best possible way.
There are areas, facilities, and offices used to present the activities of the Hippotherapy Application and Research Center. These are as follows:
In the Health Services Vocational School Building; Center Director's Room, Administrative Office
In the Arena Area; Veterinarian’s Room, Medicine Room, Graduate Horseshoe Museum, Staff Rest Room, Blacksmith's Workshop, Staff Locker Room, Staff Toilet and Shower Section, Saddle Room, Feed Room, and 8 Horse Boxes.
In the Indoor Arena Area; Horse Riding Observation Section, Horse Riding Area, Special Needs Individual Horse Riding Ramp, Special Needs Individual Preparation Room, Special Needs Individual Toilet Section, Female Student Locker Room, Male Student Locker Room, Student Female Toilet Section, Student Male Toilet Sections.
In the Outdoor Arena Area; 1000 m2 horse riding area surrounded by wooden fences with a sand surface, 1000 m2 horse riding area surrounded by wooden fences with a grass surface.
In the Longe Area; 16-meter diameter longe area.
Paddock; 1000 m2 horse resting area surrounded by wooden fences with a grass surface, 30000 m2 horse resting area surrounded by wire mesh fences with a thistle surface, 10000 m2 horse resting area surrounded by iron fences with a thistle surface.
Storage Area; 500 m2 Horse Feed Storage Section, 400 m2 Hay Storage Section.
Quarantine Area; 2-horse quarantine box section.
There are horse care, trimming, washing, and examination areas.
With the support of our Rectorate, our center carries out significant work in the field of hippotherapy and operates internationally as a member of the European Union Hippotherapy Turkey Network.
The activities of the center aim to improve individuals' social skills, enhance their self-confidence, strengthen communication skills, support learning processes, and ensure the effective use of horses in therapy processes.
At the same time, it contributes to the field by organizing research, education, and scientific events at both national and international levels.
