Short biography of Prof.Dr.Sadık KAKAÇ
He graduated from Istanbul Technical University, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in 1955. He received his MA in Mechanical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1959, in Nuclear Energy in 1960, and his PhD in 1965 from the University of Manchester. He worked at Istanbul Technical University, Middle East Technical University (1960-1982 and 1998-1999), Munich Technical University (1990-1991) and Miami University (1982-2008).
He took part in the establishment of ITU Nuclear Energy Institute in 1960. He served as a member of the Atomic Energy Commission between 1970-1978, as a member of the TÜBİTAK Science Board in 1971, as the Deputy Secretary General of TÜBİTAK between 1975-1976, represented our country in the NATO Science Committee between 1978-1980, and served as the Secretary General of the Turkish Atomic Energy Commission between 1978-1980. found.
He is Honorary Professor of Shang-hai Electric Energy Institute in China, Honorary Advisor of Xian Jiatong University, foreign member of Russian Federation Academy of Sciences, Principal/Honorary Member of Turkish Academy of Sciences.
Scientific journals named "International Journal of Hydrogen Energy", "International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer", "International Communications in Heat and Mass Transfer", "International Journal Experimental Heat Transfer, Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics" and "International Journal of Thermal Sciences" is the editor.
1989 Alexander von Humboldt Award (Germany), 1994 Turkish-American Association of Scientists Science Award, 1997 American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Heat Transfer Award, 1997 International Heat and Mass Transfer Center (ICHMT) Service Award, 1999 METU Prof. Dr. Sadık Kakaç, the winner of the Mustafa N. Parlar Education and Research Foundation Service Award, was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by Ovidius University (Romania) in 1998 and by Reims University (France) in 1999. He is the recipient of the 2000 TÜBİTAK Service Award.
He has been working at TOBB University of Economics and Technology since 2007.
