Dear Erasmus+ candidate students,
As you might have heard, under the Act on the General Rules for the Entry and Right of Residence of Third-Country Nationals, unless otherwise specified by provision, no applications for a residence permit or for an interim/a national/an EU residence card (former interim/national/EC permanent residence permits) may be submitted between 1st January 2024 and 29th February 2024 to any Hungarian Embassy in Türkiye.
The embassy recommends students to apply for a C Visa, which enables students to enter Hungary for 90 days. However, they can only extend that type of visa at home. Although the Hungarian universities would be understanding and would let students go home during the term period to extend the visa, it is noted that it might be very costly for students to travel back and forth in less than 5 months.
The students may enter with the C visa, however, if they do not get the residence permit sorted out during the 90 days, they must leave the country.
