Phishing

Phishing is a type of attack in which cybercriminals impersonate a trusted company or person to steal your information.

When opening SMS messages on your phone or emails sent to your inbox, be cautious. Messages offering seemingly free opportunities such as, "You won a season ticket," "You won a free holiday," or "You earned 30 TL chip money," may try to trick you into entering your card or identity information. Similarly, emails that say things like, "Your account password has been changed — if you didn’t do this, please verify your account using the link created for you," or "Enter your old username and password," may ask you to reveal your saved password details.

Around 92% of hacks use phishing techniques.

To protect yourself from online fraud:

  • Do not share personal information.

  • Do not click on suspicious links.

  • Only use websites that use the “https” protocol.
