Why AYBU Department of Public Finance?

About Us

The Department of Public Finance at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University Faculty of Political Sciences aims to educate future public finance experts and administrators through the learning, teaching, and training opportunities it provides in the fields of public finance, tax law, economics, and finance. The curriculum of the Department of Public Finance is designed to equip students with the essential theoretical, legal, and practical knowledge necessary to succeed in their future roles across the public sector, private sector, and international institutions.

In line with globalized and rapidly evolving public administration and financial systems, our department understands the geopolitical significance of our country in the region and follows an educational program aligned with Türkiye’s future goals. We aim to cultivate confident individuals capable of having a say both nationally and internationally. Türkiye holds immense potential with its dynamic public finance policies and strategic resource management. To evaluate and sustain this potential, there is a strong need for well-educated, knowledgeable, and confident public finance experts, auditors, tax specialists, bureaucrats, and academicians who have a strong command of legislation and economic analysis.

Through the educational opportunities offered by the department, we strive to help students acquire both academic research skills and qualifications suitable for working in the public and private sectors. The primary priority of the Department of Public Finance is to provide an environment where young minds can utilize core knowledge and analytical methods in areas such as public expenditure, principles of taxation, budgeting techniques, and fiscal policy, while enhancing their research, critical thinking, decision-making, and analytical reasoning skills. Our department has embraced the vision of becoming an excellent center in public finance education and research in our country over the next decade. Our department offers 100% English medium instruction throughout the 4-year undergraduate program (excluding the preparatory class). International students from various countries, particularly from Asia, Africa, and the Balkans, continue their education in our department.
