The discipline of public finance is an interdisciplinary field that examines government expenditures and revenues, encompassing economic, legal, and political dimensions and situated at the intersection of these fields. Public finance focuses on the aspect of economics related to government activities and the state's role in economic life.

The primary mission of the Department of Public Finance at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University's Faculty of Political Sciences is to educate qualified students equipped with theoretical and applied fiscal knowledge. With the knowledge and experience they acquire, our students become individuals who can analyze economic and fiscal matters, develop policy, express scientific opinions on current developments and historical processes, and develop consistent solutions to fiscal, legal, and economic problems, significantly increasing their chances of success in life after university. Our graduates are primarily employed in the Ministry of Treasury and Finance; they can work at all levels in various ministries (such as the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Trade, Ministry of Justice) and in banks (public and private banks) as inspectors, controllers, auditors, specialists, and inspectors. Thanks to the wide range of courses offered, our graduates can work in various institutions and higher boards such as the Central Bank, Court of Accounts, and Capital Markets Board. Graduates of the Public Finance Department, who undergo an interdisciplinary training program, can also prepare for the exams for administrative court judgeships. In addition to all this, graduates have the opportunity to be employed in the private sector (as a certified public accountant, certified public accountant, tax audit officer, etc.) and pursue academic careers.

In addition to finance courses, our department's curriculum also includes courses in economics, business administration, law, public administration, computer science, statistics, and econometrics. Our department prioritizes elective courses in its third and fourth years, providing our students with the opportunity to choose courses based on their interests and future aspirations. Embracing the understanding that life is not just about classes, our students are encouraged to participate in social and cultural activities and club activities within our faculty. With the advantage of English as the language of instruction, our students are able to engage in domestic and international activities and research, achieving significant gains in becoming well-equipped individuals with analytical thinking skills.
