Program Educational Objectives of the Department of Information Management:

 

PEO 1

The curriculum supports students in acquiring knowledge in the areas of archiving, accessing, organizing, and sharing information, digital libraries, information access, information systems and services, archive and records management, bibliometrics, and scientific research methods.

PEO 2

The department's curriculum supports students in developing the competence to critically evaluate, synthesize, and utilize information.

PEO 3

Students are enabled to learn how to access information resources and how to use the accessed information and resources effectively.

PEO 4

Students gain knowledge and skills in designing the information services of the future by examining and evaluating best practice examples in the fields of librarianship, archival science, information science, data science, and information management.

PEO 5

Students are enabled to learn how to conduct scientific research within the framework of ethical rules and to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge and competence in science ethics and morality.

PEO 6

Students are supported in learning to collect, evaluate, and analyze data for effective qualitative and quantitative research, and to use this data in scientific research, articles, and reports, through the theoretical and practical knowledge gained in the Research Methods course.

PEO 7

Students are enabled to acquire analytical and critical thinking skills and to evaluate phenomena in the world from a different perspective.

PEO 8

Students are supported in gaining skills in evaluating and discussing the accuracy of the information and data they acquire, without relying on a single source of information.

PEO 9

Students are offered the opportunity to improve themselves in terms of meta-literacy skills and meta-cognitive competencies.

PEO 10

Students are enabled to benefit from other social sciences (history, art history, law, sociology, philosophy, etc.) and information technology fields; and to have knowledge about the fundamental areas of archival science, librarianship, information management, and data literacy.

PEO 11

The aim is to train students as information professionals who effectively use digital technologies necessary for easy access to resources in the field of Information Science, rich learning experiences, digital document management, data analysis, effective communication, collaboration, and the development of lifelong learning skills.
