The field of interest of the Department of Qur’anic Exegesis is to study the Qur’an in all aspects; its meaning, explanation and commentary. Courses offered by the department are as follow: Process of the Qur’an since its revelation till today (i.e. history of the Qur’an); methodology of the Qur’an, methods of interpretation and its rule; commentators and commentaries of the Qur’an, genres and methods of tafsirs and their movements (History of the Qur’anic Commentary), readings of the commentaries and their analysis. Additionally, subjects of the Qur’an, the philological aspects and details, translations, Qur’anic commentaries in Turkish, contemporary tafsir problems and modern tafsir courses are offered as selective courses.
