Empowering Educators: LAP Club Facilitator Training Completed

Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University (AYBU), the Learning Advisory Unit within the Learning and Teaching Centre (ÖĞMER) and the School of Foreign Languages (SFL) successfully completed the ‘Empowering Educators: LAP Club Facilitator Training’ between September-October 2024. This training programme was offered to 14 participants who are AYBU English Language instructors in order to improve their advising and group management skills in English language teaching.
During the training, the participants gained in-depth knowledge on advising principles, transformational learning theories and effective group session management. Advisor educators Gamze Güven Yalçın, Ebru Sınar Okkutucu and Gökçe Arslan guided the participants and helped them to implement group advising practices within the framework of the Butterfly Model. The training was supported by various assignments and practices that enabled the participants to regularly follow their own learning processes.
At the end of the training, participants improved their skills in facilitating social learning experiences by applying the knowledge they had learnt. At the end of the programme, participants will be awarded certificates for those who meet the success requirements and attend at least 80% of the courses. This training reinforced AYBU's leadership in the field of Advising in Language Learning and contributed significantly to the professional development of the participants. It is planned to continue similar trainings in the future, both internally and externally.
