We are proud to share that our AYBU LAP Coordinator, Gamze Güven Yalçın, was an invited speaker at the International Conference of Modern Teaching Methods (October 18-19, 2025), hosted by WinWin Education.
The presentation, "Harnessing Learner Agency through Autonomy-Supportive Teaching with AI as Reflective Co-Pilot," focused on integrating generative AI into teacher education. The core message is that AI can transform from a static tool into a dynamic, non-directive companion that promotes metacognition and deep self-reflection.
Key Highlights & Impact
The session introduced research-backed frameworks, including the Butterfly Model and the Wheel of Autonomy-Supportive Teaching. A hands-on activity utilising AILAP (powered by BoodleBox AI) confirmed the powerful potential of this approach:
- Deeper Reflection: Educators found they could be "more frank" with the AI, leading to tailored feedback and more accurate self-assessment.
- Empowerment: Interaction with AILAP strongly increased participants' sense of well-being across all PERMA elements (Positive Emotion, Engagement, Meaning, Achievement).
- A clearer purpose: Many participants gained a sharper sense of their professional identity.
This work is central to AYBU LAP's mission to foster agency, autonomy, and well-being in both students and educators within drive research-backed programs like LAP Clubs, Advising in Language Learning 101/102 and our Advisor Education Programs (AEP).
Ready to integrate these autonomy-supportive practices? Stay tuned for follow-up opportunities for educators!
