The Faculty of Sports Sciences was established by the Presidential Decree No. 3119, dated October 22, 2020, and published in the Official Gazette No. 31283, dated October 23, 2020, as the 97th State University and the 5th State University in Ankara, Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University.
With the appointment of Prof. Dr. Baki YILMAZ as the Founding Dean, who was previously the Head of the Department of Exercise and Sports Sciences and the Department of Sports Sciences at The university, The faculty started its activities.
The faculty became active with the transfer of the Department of Exercise and Sports Sciences, which has been operating since the 2016-2017 academic year. Currently, The faculty also houses departments of Sports Management and Coaching Education.
The faculty aims to train sports scientists who can choose, direct, develop, model talents, analyze performance, provide conditioning for all types of sports branches, prepare training programs, and conduct coaching practices for individuals of all ages.
Furthermore, the faculty aims to train sports managers who can integrate the unique characteristics of sports services with management theory and principles and be involved in the management of institutions and organizations that operate for sports purposes. It also aims to train coaches who can interact directly with athletes or athlete candidates and play a significant role in their multi-dimensional development.
The faculty is also dedicated to producing creative, ethical, inquiring, thinking, and productive individuals who contribute to science at the national and international levels.
