Purpose and Objectives of the Department:
The aim of the Social Work Department of the Faculty of Health Sciences of our university is to contribution of social work discipline to scientific knowledge production, to social work policies in our country and to train well-equipped social workers and lecturers who have gained professional skills in this field through undergraduate and graduate education programs in social work.
Our department aims to train professionals who have gained knowledge, skills and ethical values related to the social work profession; respecting people; will be able to work in different application areas of social work discipline such as family and child welfare, aging, health institutions, judicial institutions, educational institutions; will be able to take responsibility for individuals and families from different segments of society, who need protection and care due to different life situations and will be able to work in harmony with other disciplines related to this field through theoretical knowledge and professional practices in social work discipline during both undergraduate and postgraduate education.
Faculty members of our department have experience in clinical social work; have experience of professional practice abroad; they worked with many cases from different segments of society; especially in the projects carried out within the Ministry of Family and Social Services and the Ministry of Health, regulation studies, personnel training and scientific advisory boards. Their presence in these duties has an important place in the quality of social work education and in our preference as a department.
Social Work Fields:
The social work discipline focuses on the protection and care needs that arise as a result of the psychosocial effects of different life situations on the individual and the family, with the perspective of "person in environment". In addition, it is a profession that focuses on psychosocial services and interventions necessary for individuals to regain their social functionality and adaptation.
Social work; as a discipline that adopts the principles of respect for human beings, human rights and social justice, it draws its strength from the laws related to social services. Social work, which is an applied discipline, accepts human beings as a biopsychosocial and cultural entity within the framework of these principles. It is a profession that believes and respects that every person has the capacity to change and develop, and focuses on the psychosocial functioning and health of people. Social work aims to develop social work policies suitable for our cultural heritage, which will include needy groups from all parts of the society, in order to increase the welfare of individuals.
On the basis of scientific knowledge of social work; There are theoretical information about human such as human development and behaviors, psychopathology, the effects of different life situations on individuals and families, theories about the change, development and cultural characteristics of societies, relevant legal regulations, and psychosocial health of humans.
As a profession with a wide range of fields, social work requires professionalism in different specific fields of application.
Those who have successfully completed their social work undergraduate education can apply to "social worker" positions opened in different public institutions related to social services, according to their exam results.
Candidates who have completed their undergraduate education have the opportunity to work in different fields.

History:
Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Social Work was established in 2011.
Our department started its education life in the fall of 2013 by taking students to the Clinical Oriented Social Work Doctorate Program, Social Work Policies and Practices Master's Program with Thesis, and Family and Marriage Counseling Non-Thesis Master's Program within the Institute of Health Sciences.
In 2016, our Undergraduate program took 60 students with the TM - 3 score type (LYS Exam) and started its education life in the Milli Irade Building, Etlik Campus of our University, as of the fall semester.
In 2016, LYS student placement scores were realized as TM - 3, the lowest 393,368 points, and the highest 406,255 points.
In 2017, LYS student placement scores were realized as TM - 3, the lowest 368,412 points, and the highest 390,535 points.
In 2018, YKS placement scores were realized as EA - the lowest 302,718 points - the highest 327,896 points.
In 2019, YKS placement scores were realized as EA - the lowest 314.53 points - the highest 324.78 points.
In 2020, YKS placement scores were realized as EA - lowest 322.61754 points - highest 338.05194 points.
Our Department's Undergraduate Program continues its education life in the Esenboğa Campus (Dumlupınar Street Çubuk / ANKARA) of our University since the fall semester of the 2018- 2019 Academic Year.
The language of our programs is Turkish.
Social Work Department Erasmus Agreements:
Erasmus Program is a European Union program to encourage higher education institutions to cooperate with each other. It provides unrequited financial support for higher education institutions to produce and implement joint projects with each other, and to exchange students and staff for a short period of time.
There are two types of mobility for students;
Internship Mobility is one of the mobility preferred by students in the field of bachelor education. Internship activity is the student's obtaining practical work experience in their own vocational education field. Students registered in universities can participate in these activities. The duration of the activity is a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 12 months, valid for each education level separately.
Study mobility is carried out within the framework of the Erasmus University Charter and the existing bilateral agreements of the higher education institution for exchange. The duration of the activity can be between 3 and 12 months, which can be completed in the same academic year as one, two or three semesters according to the countries' own systems.
