The Turkish Proficiency Exam (TYS) is a test designed to measure the reading, listening, writing, and speaking skills of individuals learning Turkish as a foreign or second language. It has been conducted by the Yunus Emre Institute three times a year, simultaneously in Turkey and in all countries where Yunus Emre Institutes are located, since 2013.
At the end of the exam, successful candidates are awarded a Turkish Proficiency Certificate at the B2 or C1 level. This certificate is the first internationally recognized proficiency certificate for Turkish, and those who hold it are exempt from attending a Turkish preparatory class when they gain admission to any institution in Turkey.
The next application date for the exam is September 27, 2026, and applications will be accepted between August 3-28.
