Water Efficiency Seminar Successfully Conducted
On January 2, 2024, at the Etlik Bati A Block Conference Hall, a seminar titled 'Where Should Water Savings Begin?' was conducted by Dr. Davut Yılmaz, a faculty member of the Civil Engineering Department, as part of a water efficiency campaign. It is well-known that our country, located in the Mediterranean belt where the effects of global climate change are intensely felt, faces an increasingly significant issue of diminishing water resources due to factors like rapid population growth, rising industrialization, and urbanization.
Dr. Yılmaz began his presentation by providing information about the usage rates and areas of water resources worldwide, with a particular focus on Türkiye. He emphasized that a major portion of water resources in Türkiye is used in agricultural irrigation and discussed measures and strategies that could be taken in this area. The seminar, especially addressing the efficiency enhancement of water resources used for agricultural purposes, attracted great interest from the attendees and was found to be highly informative.
