Researchers who have submitted articles to Gold Open Access journals and whose articles are currently in "Under Review" status may receive the informational email shown in the example below.

This message is part of a technical ongoing study.

Authors who receive this email will be able to apply to TÜBİTAK for the Article Processing Fee (APC) after their articles are accepted, as stated in the email below. This does not imply any loss of rights. The application steps are included in the author workflow document.

In Wiley Gold Open Access article workflows, no quota reservation is made in advance for APC applications made during the article submission phase. As with hybrid journals, authors will be able to apply to TÜBİTAK for APC after their articles are accepted and if the appropriate conditions are met. Therefore, the author can apply for APC (Automated Public Access) during the article submission process or after the article has been accepted. In both cases, if the agreement is active at the time of acceptance, if there is a quota, and if the article meets the TÜBİTAK (Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) criteria, open access approval may be granted.

You can find up-to-date information on TÜBİTAK criteria, author workflows, and journal lists on the following page:

Örnek email:

Dear Author,

I am writing with an update on the request made to your institution, funder or society to pay the article publication charge for the following manuscript submitted to ........ Journal Name..............

Your funding request has been cancelled due to a change in the terms of the agreement between Wiley and TUBITAK ULAKBIM.

Please note that if your article is currently undergoing peer review, you may have a second opportunity to apply for APC funding coverage once your article is editorially accepted, if:

  • your institution has an agreement that covers fully gold OA journals and has sufficient funding at time of acceptance of your manuscript and license signing, or if
  • your affiliations enable you to apply for funding from an alternative institution/funder

If you have further questions regarding your institution's agreement with Wiley, please contact your institution for information on your funding options.
