EXAMINATION RULES AND REGULATIONS

LEGAL BASIS

These regulations have been prepared based on the Higher Education Law No. 2547 and the Associate and Undergraduate Education and Training Regulation of Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University.

 

CHAPTER ONE: PURPOSE, SCOPE, AND DEFINITIONS

 

Article 1: Purpose

The purpose of these regulations is to ensure that all exams held at the AYBU Business School of Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University are conducted in a secure, fair, and academically honest manner, to define the rules students must comply with, and to regulate the sanctions to be applied in case of violations.

Article 2: Scope

These regulations cover all midterm exams, final exams, make-up exams, excuse exams, and other assessment and evaluation activities conducted at the Faculty of Business Administration of Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University.

Article 3: Definitions

Cheating:
Obtaining, using, or sharing answers to exam questions during the exam by means of unauthorized tools, materials, devices, or methods. This includes:

  • Looking at another student’s exam paper,
  • Using books, notebooks, notes, supporting materials, and documents are not permitted during the exam,
  • Using mobile phones, smart watches, tablets, computers, or any electronic device to record, photograph, view, receive or transmit exam questions or information,
  • Taking an exam on behalf of someone else or having someone else take the exam on your behalf.

Attempt to Cheat:
Engaging in actions with the intention of cheating during the exam but failing to succeed. This includes:

  • Trying to look at another student’s exam paper but failing,
  • Possessing forbidden materials or electronic devices without having used them yet,
  • Trying to remove exam questions or answers from the exam room but failing,
  • Attempting to cheat by disturbing the exam environment despite invigilators’ warnings.

Invigilator:
A staff member assigned by the AYBU Business School or Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt  University, responsible for ensuring that exams are conducted smoothly and in accordance with the rules.

CHAPTER TWO: EXAM RULES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Article 4: Rules Before the Exam

  1. All students must take their exams in the announced exam rooms. Students must check the name lists posted at classroom doors and take the exam in the room where their name is listed. The exam of a student who takes the exam in the wrong room will be deemed invalid.
  2. Students must be present in the exam room at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start time. Students who arrive within the first 15 minutes after the exam starts may be admitted but will not be given extra time. Students arriving after the first 15 minutes, regardless of any reason, will not be allowed to take the exam.
  3. Students must carry their Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University student ID card or an official photo ID (national ID card, driver’s license, or passport). Students without ID may take the exam only with a "Student Certificate" issued by the Faculty Student Affairs Office.
  4. Students are only allowed to bring materials that are necessary for the exam and permitted by the course instructor (pen, eraser, calculator, etc.). Permitted materials must be announced beforehand by the instructor and specified on the exam paper.
  5. It is strictly forbidden to enter the exam with mobile phones, smart watches, any listening devices (e.g. earphones, headphones, etc.), pagers, radios, cameras, electronic devices with dictionary functions, handheld computers, any device with computing capabilities (unless allowed by course instructor), scratch paper, notebooks, books, dictionaries, or similar items.

Article 5: Rules During the Exam

  1. Student ID cards must be kept visible on the desk throughout the exam. Students without an ID must inform the invigilators before the exam begins.
  2. Before the exam starts, students are responsible for checking their desks and surroundings for any writing or markings. If any are present, they must inform the invigilators before the exam starts.
  3. During the exam, students are strictly prohibited from exchanging any materials such as calculators, pens, erasers, or lead refills. These items must be prepared before the exam.
  4. The exam attendance sheet must be signed with a ballpoint pen. A student who has not signed cannot leave the room until they have done so.
  5. A student who leaves the exam room for any reason will not be allowed to return until the exam ends.
  6. Students are not allowed to leave the exam room within the first 15 minutes or during the last 5 minutes of the exam.
  7. Invigilators are responsible for ensuring the exam is conducted properly and in accordance with rules. Students must follow all instructions given by the invigilators, who have the authority to change a student's seat if necessary.
  8. Consumption of food or drinks, except for water, is prohibited during the exam.
  9. Students must remain quiet and avoid any behavior that could distract others.
  10. Students may not leave their seats or communicate with others during the exam without the invigilator's permission.
  11. Students with health conditions must inform the invigilators beforehand and provide medical documentation if necessary.
  12. Exam papers and question booklets may not be taken outside unless explicitly allowed by the instructor.
  13. Students who finish their exams must not gather in the hallways, speak loudly, or make any verbal or written comments about the exam.

CHAPTER THREE: IRREGULARITIES AND SANCTIONS DURING EXAMS

Article 6: Actions in Cases of Cheating or Attempted Cheating

  1. If a student is found to be cheating or attempting to cheat, the invigilator will note "cheating/attempted cheating detected" on the exam attendance record and prepare a detailed report.
  2. Any materials used for cheating will be confiscated and attached to the report. If electronic devices are suspected to have been used, this must be detailed in the report by the invigilator.
  3. Exams of students caught cheating or attempting to cheat will not be graded by the instructor and will be marked as zero (0).

Article 7: Disciplinary Actions

  1. A disciplinary investigation will be initiated for students caught cheating or attempting to cheat.
  2. As a result of the disciplinary investigation, disciplinary action will be taken in accordance with the relevant regulations.
  3. As a result of the disciplinary investigation, students who found to take an exam on behalf of someone else or have someone else take the exam for them the disciplinary action will be taken in accordance with the relevant regulations.
  4. Appeals against disciplinary actions must be submitted to the University Administrative Board within 15 days of notification.

CHAPTER FOUR: MISCELLANEOUS AND FINAL PROVISIONS

Article 8: Special Cases

  1. Make-up exams are organized in accordance with the relevant articles of the Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University’s Associate and Undergraduate Education Regulation.
  2. If students submit a valid medical report, they will be granted the right to take make-up exams for those they missed during the report's validity period.
  3. Exams for students with disabilities will be conducted under appropriate conditions based on the student's specific needs. These students may be granted extra time or special arrangements based on the recommendation of the Disabled Student Unit and with the approval of the Faculty Administrative Board.
