A special event was organized by our university's Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, within the scope of December 3rd International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
An exhibition match was played by the athletes of the Turkish Armed Forces Disabled Sports Club Wheelchair Youth Basketball Team. Following the match, the "Accessible Futures Student Panel" was held with the participation of our Paralympic Champion National Athletes. The opening speeches of the panel, held for the second time at our university, were delivered by the Head of the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Assoc. Prof. Bahar ANAFOROĞLU, AYBU Secretary General and Accessible AYBU Unit Coordinator Asst. Prof. Mümin ŞEN, and AYBU Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Cengiz KÖSEOĞLU. In his speech, our Rector emphasized that the university always stands by individuals with disabilities and stated that one of their primary goals is to be a disability-friendly university. He expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributed to the event.
Subsequently, in the interview moderated by Assoc. Prof. Bahar ANAFOROĞLU, Paris 2024 Para Taekwondo Champion Mahmut BOZTEKE, Paris 2024 Para Swimming Champion Umut ÜNLÜ, and Rio 2016 & Tokyo 2020 Champion Abdullah ÖZTÜRK shared their life stories and the experiences they gained in the championships they attended with the students.
At the end of the interview, an interactive question-and-answer session was held with all participating students. The event ended with the presentation of gifts and a commemorative group photo session.
