AYBU to Host International Seminar and Workshop on Multidisciplinary Strategies for Combatting Antibiotic Resistance
Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University is proud to announce a high-impact scientific event focused on one of global health’s most pressing challenges. On April 24, 2026, AYBU will host the "Seminar on Multidisciplinary Strategies For Combatting Antibiotic Resistance" followed by a specialized "Workshop on Electrochemical and Nanopore Biosensors."
TÜBİTAK-Funded Global Collaboration
Supported by TÜBİTAK (Grant No: 124S727, 123Z290), this event is organized by AYBU BIOTEN (Medical Engineering Technologies Translational Medicine). The seminar features a distinguished lineup of international speakers from prestigious institutions, including the University of Oslo, University of Strathclyde, University of Barcelona, and the University of Greenwich, alongside leading experts from Turkish universities.
The Agenda: Innovation in Detection and Therapy
- Public Health & Environment: Perspectives on aquatic resistome dynamics and one health interfaces.
- Nanotechnology: Advanced antimicrobial therapies using polymeric nanoparticles and bio-based molecularly imprinted platforms.
- Diagnostics: Chip-based pathogen detection and colorimetric phenotypic susceptibility testing.
- Biophysics: Conformational plasticity of proteins and single-channel characterization of porin channels.
Hands-On Workshop Session
In the afternoon, the Workshop on Electrochemical and Nanopore Biosensors will provide participants with technical insights into next-generation sensing technologies. Led by Assoc. Prof. Nimet Yıldırım Tirgil and Dr. Aliakbar Ebrahimi, the workshop will cover:
- Biosensor Design: Principles of electrochemical sensing and performance parameters.
- Nanopore Sensors: Fundamentals of single-channel electrophysiology and planar lipid bilayer systems.
- Experimental Demonstration: Real-time measurement setups using PalmSens devices and interpretation of antibiotic interaction signals.
