UNIDES Turkish-Arabic Culture and Arabic Dialects Workshop Held at AYBU

As part of the University Student Societies Cooperation and Support Program (ÜNİDES), conducted by the Ministry of Youth and Sports' General Directorate of Youth Services and aimed at increasing the interaction of youth offices with university student groups and contributing to the development of young people, six projects from our university, two national and four local, were awarded support in the "2nd Term (ÜNİDES) Program," based on the results of the second term applications for the 2024-2025 academic year. In this context, our university's Middle East Studies Club (ODAK) was also awarded support for its "Turkish-Arabic Culture and Arabic Dialects Workshop Project."

A three-day program was held at the Esenboğa Campus, led by students from the Department of Arabic Translation and Interpreting, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Eastern Languages ​​and Literatures, Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University (AYBU), and coordinated by Dr. Mehmet Sadık GÜR, the Academic Advisor of the Middle East Studies Club and faculty member.

The Workshop, Supported by the UNIDES Program, Attracted Great Attention

The opening session of the workshop was held on Friday, February 21st, in the C Block Meeting Hall of the AYBU Esenboğa Complex. The session began with presentations by Project Coordinator Ebru AY and Middle East Studies Club Academic Advisor Dr. Mehmet Sadık GÜR on the project's application, acceptance, and implementation stages. In his remarks, AYBU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa ORÇAN noted that 45 students from 14 different universities in Turkey, totaling 90 students, were hosted at AYBU. Orçan emphasized the special significance of the "Turkish-Arabic Culture and Arabic Dialects Workshop," a unique field of education, being conducted by volunteer students for the first time in our country at our university complex, and that they will continue to provide all administrative and academic support in this regard. He added that AYBU Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Dean Prof. Dr. Hüseyin TUTAR, in his speech, emphasized the importance of project applications and encouraged academics and students in this area. He stated that entrepreneurship sometimes comes to the forefront with a single idea and contains the seeds that can influence social dynamics. He expressed his points in Arabic, a surprise that surprised his Arab guests and students. Renad NOFAL, Cultural Counselor at the Embassy of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in Ankara, stated that they were deeply honored to be invited to and participate in the program, that they were ready for all kinds of collaboration and support on such matters, and that they would like to develop joint programs in the future.

The program's introductory panel was moderated by Dr. Kamil KARASU, Vice Chair of the Department of Eastern Languages ​​and Literatures at AYBU Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences.
