International Symposium on Sultan Bayezid and Amir Timur Emir was given start at Samarkand

“International Symposium on Sultan Bayezıd and Amir Timur” that was organized jointly by Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, Samarkand State University, Bursa Uludağ University and supported by Turkish International Cooperation And Development Agency (TIKA), Turkish Historical Society, Yunus Emre Institute, Metropolitan Municipality of Bursa, Municipality of Yıldırım, Municipality of Çubuk, Municipality of Keçiören, Municipality of Altındağ, Municipality of Etimesgut was given start on October 17, 2022 at 10 am at Registan Square of The City of Samarkand, Uzbekistan with opening ceremony and  protocol speeches.

The symposium was given start with the opening speeches of Director of History Institute of Uzbekistan Prof. Azamat Ziya, Samarkand Provincial Judge Fazliddin Umarov, Rector of Samarkand State University Prof. Dr. Rustam Xolmurodov, Vice Rector of Bursa Uludağ University Prof. Dr. Ferudun Yılmaz and AYBU Rector Prof. Dr. İbrahim Aydınlı delivered the opening speeches  of the symposium which continued with the first session.

Director of History Institute of Uzbekistan Senator Prof. Azamat Ziya, who took part in the opening ceremony of the symposium and signed a cooperation protocol with AYBU, pointed out how our point of view is supposed to be towards history as Turkish world.  AYBU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Yılmaz Tezcan also delivered a speech on the opening ceremony of the symposium.

The mayors of Municipality of Yıldırım and Municipality of Etimesgut both of whom provided contribution to the symposium also delivered a speech during the opening ceremony. TIKA Tashent Coordinator Cemalettin Tüney, Turkish Consul General of Samarkand Salih Caner also delivered a speech.

Prof. Dr. Feridun Emecen delivered the final speech of the opening session of the symposium entitled “A World: Two Emperors: Sultan Bayezıd and Amir Timur”. The symposium continued with the afternoon session at Conference Hall of History Department of Samarkand State University.

During the afternoon session, presentations were presented on “Modern Approaches to The History of Amir Timur: The Problems of Commentary and Wording”, “The Attitude of Amir Timur to Science and Scientists”, “Government Organization of Amir Timur in accordance with the Work “Muizzü’l-Ensab”, “Turkish War Tradition and The Meaning of Conquest with Military Terms in the time of Chagatay and Babur Turkish”, “To Bridge with Poetry: The Gaze of Poetry from Bukhara to Bursa”, “Timur, The War of Ankara in the writing of The East and The West”, “Amir Timur in the Literary Works of The Time of Ottoman Empire”.

The first part of the symposium will continue till October 18, 2022. During the first part, scientists will do presentations on Sultan Bayezıd and Amir Timur on varied fields. The second part of the symposium will be held in Bursa on October 24-25, 2022. The final part of the symposium will be held in Ankara at the Conference Hall of Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıd University Etlik National Will Campus on 26 October, 2022.
