Ankara and Urban Culture Discussed at the International Symposium in the Context of D. Mehmet Doğan

The International D. Mehmet Doğan Knowledge Symposium, organized under the coordination of Prof. Dr. Mustafa Orçan, a member of our Board of Directors and Head of the D. Mehmet Doğan Research Center, was held in Ankara between 12 and 14 December 2025.
The symposium, with partners including the Ankara Governorship, TURKSOY, Ankara Social Sciences University (ASBU), Memur-Sen, Eğitim-Bir-Sen, the Turkish Writers’ Union (TYB), and the Mehmet Akif İnan Foundation, brought together numerous academics and researchers from various cities in Türkiye as well as from abroad.
The program addressed the scholarly and intellectual legacy of D. Mehmet Doğan from multiple perspectives, with papers presented under diverse thematic headings.
As part of the symposium, Assoc. Prof. Yahya Aydın, Director of the Center, served as the session chair of the panel titled “City and Urban Culture.” Within the same session, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Orçan presented his paper entitled “D. Mehmet Doğan and Urbanization in Ankara.”
The symposium attracted considerable attention for offering diverse perspectives, critical evaluations, and original contributions on Ankara within the intellectual framework of D. Mehmet Doğan.
