The School of Foreign Languages academic member Instructor Dr. Tuğba KARABULUT participated in the 17th International IDEA Conference: Studies in English, an international academic event held in Elazığ from May 7–9, 2025, hosted by Fırat University.

Dr. Karabulut presented a paper titled “A Study of British Surrealist Poetry: Dream-like Narration and Imagery in David Gascoyne’s ‘And the Seventh Dream is the Dream of Isis’” at the conference. Analysing this work by David Gascoyne—considered the first British Surrealist poem—Karabulut examined the dream-like narration and imagery in the poem within semiotic, psychoanalytic, and mythological contexts.

This conference, which featured high international participation and served as a platform for sharing current literary research, brought together scholars in the field. Dr. Karabulut’s presentation drew particular attention for its content focusing on the relationship between modern poetry and surrealism.

Dr. Karabulut’s participation not only contributed to our university’s visibility on international academic platforms but also offered a significant perspective on studies of surrealist poetry in English literature. We thank her for his work and look forward to her continued contributions.
