What's in the ILC? / Nasıl Bir Merkez?

At the ILC, you may use various printed resources such as reference books on language skills, grammar and vocabulary, graded readers, dictionaries as well as exam-practice books. Most of the resources available are appropriate for self-study.

     > You are kindly requested to visit ILC Reception counter in order to borrow books. Please be informed that ILC library resources cannot be taken out of the ILC. ILC staff will be ready to help you choose the right resources for you.

At the ILC, 19 computers with internet connection are readily available for ILC users. Please visit ILC Reception to book a computer workstation and get your card.

     > If you would like to use a computer, please visit ILC Reception, get a card and sign the relevant list.

     > ILC computers can ONLY be used for learning.

     > You may borrow a headphone too with a student ID. Please do not forget to return your headphone and get your card back while leaving the centre.

ILC Cafe is located at the entrance of the ILC on the 5th floor. ILC Cafe is a comfy space suitable for self-study or group work. You may study there, chat with your friends or watch satellite TV using the desks or comfortable sofas there. One more note: You may bring your food and drinks too.

ILC Study Desks are popular spots for you if you wish to study individually or with your friends. You may use ILC resources, do homework or keep working on your own materials. There is no requirement for you to sign a list or give your student ID.

At ILC Reading Corner, learners may enjoy reading graded story books, magazines or anything they want. ILC’s well-known purple couches will make you feel home.

ILC Comfort Zone is located along the windows at the ILC. We highly recommend you to spend more time within the peaceful atmosphere of the Comfort Zone.

A variety of newspapers, magazines or brochures can be found on ILC shelves. You should know that using classroom resources only and restricting learning into class hours will slow down your pacing in learning a language. Documents you may find on Reading Shelves will show you the actual, authentic language use, which is definitely what you need for a better command over a foreign language.

     > Reading Shelves are multilingual. On these shelves, you may access magazines and newspapers on English, French, Russian, Spanish, Italian, Japanese and Turkish. Keep in mind that materials on a language you do not speak will also increase your linguistic and cultural awareness.

The ILC is not a classroom or a language lab. Instead, it is a peaceful and active learning space designed to meet your needs and expectations. We keep working to serve you better.
