The Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University Center for Learning and Teaching (ÖĞMER) organized a workshop titled "Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education: Roles, Opportunities, Challenges, and Ethics" on September 18, 2025. The workshop, held on the ÖĞMER Service Floor, Block A, 5th Floor, of the Etlik Milli İrade Campus, was attended by faculty members from various faculties.
The workshop aimed to address the multidimensional impact of artificial intelligence in higher education, discuss the opportunities and challenges encountered in academic and administrative processes, and develop applicable strategies in ethical and legal dimensions.
Following the opening remarks, the program continued with participants dividing into roundtable sessions. Discussions were held under five different themes:
Instructional Design and Learning Experiences with Artificial Intelligence
Assessment and Evaluation, Student Success, and Artificial Intelligence
New Roles and Skills of Faculty
Ethics, Academic Integrity, and Artificial Intelligence in Learning Environments
Future of Education Policies and Interdisciplinary Course Design
The sessions in-depth discussed the personalized learning opportunities offered by artificial intelligence, innovations in assessment and evaluation processes, the evolving roles of faculty, and academic integrity. Participants evaluated both the opportunities and the ethical risks to be considered.
It was stated that the opinions and recommendations emerging from the workshop will guide the determination of concrete steps that will shape our university's AI vision.
The ÖĞMER Coordination Office plans to organize subsequent workshops of a similar nature to strengthen the institutional vision in this area.
