Significant Protocol from AYBU and the General Directorate of Prisons and Detention Houses

Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University (AYBU) and the General Directorate of Prisons and Detention Houses (CTE) have signed a significant cooperation protocol. The five-year agreement will support the professional development of personnel working in penal institutions and expand efforts to reintegrate convicts and detainees into society.

 

Personnel Development and Academic Collaboration

 

The protocol, signed by AYBU Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Cengiz Köseoğlu and General Director of Prisons and Detention Houses Enis Yavuz Yıldırım, aims to enhance the competencies of personnel working in penal institutions and probation departments in areas such as postgraduate education, pedagogical specialization, and training of trainers. Training programs, workshops, and seminars will be organized to contribute to the professional development of personnel.

 

The agreement focuses on the social reintegration of convicts and detainees in penal institutions. Psychosocial support, hippotherapy, and programs aimed at reducing criminal tendencies will be implemented. Academic research on the causes of crime will also be supported.

 

Students Provide Practical Training Opportunities

 

AYBU students will have the opportunity to engage in practical work and internships in penal institutions thanks to this protocol. Among the objectives are to raise public awareness through jointly organized symposiums and panels, develop social projects for the public, and strengthen the supervisory capacities of monitoring board members.

 

The protocol ceremony, held at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, was attended by Deputy Director General Namık Kemal Varol; Department Heads Neşe Tok Toptaş, Mustafa Burak Açoğlu, Dr. Hüseyin Şık, Gökhan Köseoğlu, and Armağan Buran; Investigating Judges Hasan Bıyık and Lütfü Yeğin; Branch Managers Tahsin Kara and Abdullah Kaya; and Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Akın Aktaş and Prof. Dr. Abdullah Yıldız and Dean of the Faculty of Law Prof. Dr. Neslihan Karataş Durmuş attended.
