Hosted by Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University's Faculty of Law, the symposium titled "Constitutional Developments from the Ottoman Empire to the Present Day" was held at the July 15 Martyrs' Compound. The well-attended event brought together academics and students interested in constitutional law.
The event began with a moment of silence and the singing of the Turkish National Anthem. Following a promotional film by Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University and the Atatürk Research Center, a video was shown about the 1921 Constitution. Opening remarks were delivered by AYBU Faculty of Law Dean Prof. Dr. Neslihan Karataş Durmuş and Atatürk Research Center (ATAM) President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet KILINÇ. The speakers emphasized the importance of the event and highlighted the historical depth of constitutional processes.
The panel, moderated by ATAM President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet KILINÇ, was attended by Ankara University Scientific Board Member Prof. Dr. Belkıs Konan, Dr. Zeki Eraşlan, a full member of the ATAM Scientific Board, and Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Zengin from AYBU Faculty of Law participated as speakers. The panelists evaluated Türkiye's century-long constitutional legacy from various perspectives, including "The Place of Fatih's Organizational Code in Our Constitutional History," "The 1876 Constitution as a Basis for the Organization of Fundamental Freedoms and Freedoms in Turkish Constitutional History," and "Social Rights in Turkish Constitutional Law."
Following the panel, a book signing ceremony was held for "Turkish Constitutional Texts from the Ottoman Empire to the Present" and "Turkey's 100-Year Accumulation of Law." Associate Professor Dr. Zeki Eraşlan, the book's editor, and Prof. Dr. Belkıs Konan met with readers and signed their books.
