Women Who Add Value to Life Symposium

The "Women Adding Value to Life Symposium" was held in partnership with the Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University Institute of Health Sciences and the Ankara Branch of the Women's Health Nursing Association, with support from the Ministry of Family and Social Services.

In the symposium's opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Esra Çalık Var, Director of the Health Sciences Institute, welcomed the participants, discussed what needs to be done to improve women's well-being, and highlighted the value women add to life in healthcare, business, management, and foster motherhood, all within the context of the panelists' topics. On behalf of the Women's Health Nursing Association, Prof. Dr. Ayten Şentürk Erenel, President of the Association, congratulated the participants on International Women's Day and delivered a speech on the significance of the day. Prof. Dr. Akın Aktaş, Vice Rector of Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, welcomed the participants and emphasized the place of women in society.

In the session on women adding value to professional life, Prof. Dr. Nurgün Platin, a faculty member in the Department of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences, KTO Karatay University, spoke on the topic of modernization and women. Hande Gözüm, Chair of the Board of Directors of Hidport Engineering Inc., shared her journey as a woman in the business world and her entrepreneurial story. Following this, Melisa Eroğlu, one of our young national athletes, shared how she got started in boxing, her championships, and her ongoing endeavors.

In the second session of the panel, Huri Kaşıkçı, Branch Manager of the General Directorate of the Status of Women at the Ministry of Family and Social Services, shared her life journey as a visually impaired woman, her management career, and the projects she has implemented. Finally, Seval Açar, a foster mother who raised her child in her heart, shared her motherhood journey.
