A scrutinized research has been initiated to find out the traces of The War of Ankara that took place between Sultan Beyazıt and Amir Timur. The research that is carried out by AYBU at the region on which the war took place aims to come up with the unknown parts of the war that took place 620 years ago.
In the first phase of the research, the fieldwork will be carried out on the area of 150 million square meter. Archaeological excavation of the field is planned to be carried out in the second phase in the line with the first findings of the first phase.
With this research, it is planned to find out the objects, the documents and information that belong to the period. Rector Prof. Dr. İbrahim AYDINLI, who pointed out the responsibility of AYBU in this regard said that:
“It is not easy to have the responsibility of such a historical liability. On behalf of AYBU, we need not to propagandize this event but to wish mercy from God to all who lost their lives on this territory as the scientists who evaluate the event objectively. We wish to bring a breath of fresh air to Ankara historically. The year 2022 is the 620th year of The War of Ankara. We have recently opened Department of Archelogy for the purpose of examining the history of the region and find out the findings of the war. In general, the letters are the primary source of information we have about the war, but the original letters are not available today. We believe that we are going to find out information belonging to the period of war.”
Rector Aydınlı completed his words as follows: “We aim to complete our research on the field of war with the support of Turkish Historical Society, Turkish Republic Ministry of Culture, District Governor of Çubuk, Municipality of Çubuk, Municipality of Akyurt and Municipality of Pursaklar, Metropolitan Municipality of Bursa, Municipality of Yıldırım and Bursa Technical University. For this reason, beforehand I would like to express my gratitude to all shareholders who will support us in the beginning, during and completion of the project.
