A Symposium on Scholars in Islam Civilisation- Mehmet Emin Er was held at AYBU

The grandsons Mehmet Emin Er Turksih Republic Minister of Justice Abdulhamit Gül, Mehmet Nezir Gül, AYBU Rector Prof. Dr. İbrahim Aydınlı, Dean of AYBU Faculty of Islamic Sciences Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ünal, Former Head of Turkish Religious Foundation Prof. Dr. Mehmet Görmez, son of Mehmet Emin Er İbrahim Halil Er and academicians took part in the opening session of the symposium that was held AT AYBU Faculty of Islamic Sciences thanks to the 8th death anniversary of Mehmet Emin Er.

İbrahim Halil Er, who expressed his gratitude to anyone who has a hand in the symposium, said that Mehmet Emin Er is one of the scholars in Islam Civilisation and added that each scholar is a heritage. He also reminded that his father gave lecture to the students of Islamic Sciences during the period he was in Ankara.

"He was always on the path of scholarship throughout his life."

Mehmet Nezir Gül, who delivered a speech on the first session of the symposium moderated by AYBU Rector Prof. Dr. İbrahim Aydınlı, stated that the limited opportunities could not dissuade Mehmet Emin Er from his passion for knowledge. Mehmet Nezir Gül said that Mehmet Emin Er started to take scholar education at a very early age and his passion for scholarship continued during the period when he worked as a shepherd. He added that his grandfather used to write on the stones. He said that he has read many works of his grandfather and told them the people around him. Mehmet Nezir Gül, who referred to the fact that some scholars had said that “this child will be a scholar” concerning Mehmet Emin Er who used to walk 20 hours to learn scholarship from some people. Mehmet Nezir Gül, who said that his grandfather used to be in Syria for education, said that his grandfather was always on the path of scholarship throughout his life.

"He combined scholarship with ethic in his life."

Former Head of Turkish Religious Foundation Prof. Dr. Mehmet Görmez said that Mehmet Emin Er combined scholarship with ethic in his life. Görmez, who referred to the fact that scholarship covers all areas of the life of Mehmet Er, Mehmet Er pursued the world and the condition of Islamic community. He added that after a surgery he had, he wanted to know the condition of Syria and he referred to his wish “I wish people in Syria dis not die”.

"He had advice on The Being Useful to Scholarship, The Country and Humanity."

 

Turksih Republic Minister of Justice Abdülhamit Gül, who delivered a speech at the end of the opening session, said that Mhemet Er continued to read and write until his death. Abdülhamit Gül, who said scholarship was at the centre of his grandfather’s life, said that “he had always advice on being useful to scholarship, the country and humanity.“ and thanked anyone who has a hand in the organization of the symposium.
