With the decision of 40th General Conference of UNESCO, 850th birth anniversary of Ahi Evran was included in UNESCO Commemoration and Celebration Programs throughout the year 2021 With the Memorandums of Presidency, the year 2021 has been announced as “The Year of Ahi Evran” and it has been decided to held commemoration activities. In the line with this, an online conference of “Turkish Islamic Guild Cooperative System was held on 6th of May 2021 under the moderatorship of Department Head of Economics Department Prof. Dr. Erdal Tanas. Vice Director of Turkish Republic Ministry of Commerce Craft and Related Trades Workers Cooperative System Ekrem Alper BOZKURT delivered a speech during the conference.
The program was initiated with the presentation of Prof. Dr. Erdal Tanas. Then Ekrem Alper BOZKURT initiated his speech with the anecdotes on the life of Ahi Evran, geography of Anatolia as well as political, social and financial conditions of his time. He also referred to the structure and rules of Turkish Islamic Guild and added that Turkish Islamic Guild is not only a community of work of a tradesman, but also a non-governmental institution that is concerned with every aspect of social life. Bozkurt put an end to his speech with the history and development of The Cooperative System and the activities to be held by Turkish Republic Ministry of Commerce in the scope of “The Year of Ahi Evran.”
The program that attracted great attention and continued almost for an hour was concluded with the assessment of Prof. Dr. Erdal Tanas KARAGÖL who moderated the program.
